Jess Update (XIII)

Wednesday 13 July 2005
Hello friends and family – welcome to my 13th Update. Today I am exactly 46 weeks old (or 10.5 months) I’ll just Update you quickly this week because I really only have one newsworthy item to report, but it IS an important one…

I am now the proud owner of a tooth!  I had a particularly unsettled (ie, no sleep!) night on the first of this month, then the following night I slept for 17 hours straight and woke up on 03 July with the first of two front bottom teeth (my left).  As you can imagine, all was forgiven for the turbulence of the previous night and there was much jubilation in the Maiden-Ross household!  Aforementioned tooth is still far too small to be photographed (as Granddad said, it’s "a mere suggestion of a tooth"), but you can rest assured that as soon as it’s photograph-able, it’ll be immortalised in celluloid.

I’m standing up more and more often these days, but haven’t yet stood up without holding on to someone or something.  I have started to "cruise" around the furniture a little bit, but I’m very unsure about moving my feet while I’m standing on them – all feels a bit odd at this stage, and my parents don’t seem overly keen to rush me…

I am continuing to make efforts to communicate.  My latest "cute-ness" is that I pucker my lips like I’m about to give you a big kiss, then say "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!".  My parents think I usually say it in context, but find it slightly surprising that "no" might be my first word, because I’m such a good little kid that "no" is hardly ever said to me.  I do, however, hear the word bouncing furiously around me – coming from and in relation to my brother – so I suspect that’s where I’ve learned it.

Other than that, all has been fairly quiet on the Coastal front.  Grandma has gone back to Brisbane to pack up and move into her new house in Moorooka with Soss.  Grand-Annette is here for a couple of days, Nanna & Granddad are coming up early next week to visit me, and our visas for Indonesia are still "in the works", so we don’t have a departure date yet.  Mum saw the surgeon today and he gave her a pretty good report on her tummy which we’re all pleased about.  Daddy’s taking the last few days of next week off work, so I’m looking forward to spending some time with him.

Well, as they say…  "That’s all, folks!"

I hope everyone’s happy and well.

Much love,
Baby Jess
